FM12 NT / FM16 NT film magazine for Kiev 88 / 688 cameras

FM12 NT filmback FM12 NT filmback

General Notes

The magazine is intended for use with Kiev 88 / 688 single-lens reflex camera and 120 roll film.

The film magazine is available in two formats: 6x6cm format, with 12 frames per roll and 6x4.5cm format, with 16 frames per roll.

The magazine provides a double or multiple exposure capability.

The frame counter indicates the number of exposures and automatically resets to "0" when the magazine is reloaded.

The magazine is available with chrome or black trim.

Loading the Film Magazine

The magazine can be loaded with the film in daylight (preferably in a shade).

Open the magazine cover by turning the lock lever and shifting the lock button in the arrow direction.

FM12 NT filmback (opened)

Pull the transport mechanism out of the magazine.

FM12 NT filmback (disassembled)

Flip up the clip, put the spool with the film into the seat with the red index and reset the clip to the initial position. The protruding center of the clip must enter the spool hole.

Flip up the other clip and insert the take-up spool into the seat. Reset the clip to the initial position so that its protruding center enter the spool hole.

Pull out 8 to 9 cm (3 to 4 inches) of the backing paper from the film roll and pass it on the guide rollers. Insert the tongue of the backing paper into the take-up spool. Wind the backing by rotating the take-up spool. Make sure that the backing paper winds without skewing or crumpling of its edges.

Fold out the film rewinding crank and turn it in the arrow direction until the arrow on the backing paper is opposite the red index on the feed spool seat. Insert the magazine slide into the magazine slide socket against stop. Close the magazine cover. Rotate the film rewinding crank in the arrow direction until it stops. The "1" will appear in the frame counter window, which corresponds to the first frame on the film, and white signal will appear in the film exposure indicator window.

Preparing the Film Magazine for Shooting

Install the film magazine and prepare the camera for operation according to the Kiev 88 / 688 camera manual.

A magazine with unexposed film in the frame window can be installed on the camera with the shutter released.

For taking a repeated picture on the same frame, set the film transport disengaging handle in the 2 <double frame> position and cock the camera. The film and frame counter remain in the same position. After cocking the camera the handle will return to the initial position.

After installing the film magazine on the camera remove the magazine slide and insert it in the magazine slide pocket on the magazine cover.

Unloading the Film Magazine

You can make shots until "K" appears in the frame counter window, indicating that the all film has been used. In this case insert the magazine slide into the magazine slide socket against stop and remove the film magazine from the camera by shifting the magazine lock button in the arrow direction. Fold out the film rewinding crank and rotate it in the arrow direction until the film has been rewound on the take-up spool. When the film is rewound, the crank becomes light.

Open the magazine cover. Remove the transport mechanism from the magazine. Flip up the clip and remove the spool with exposed film. Return the clip to the initial position. Install the transport mechanism into the film magazine and close the magazine cover.
